WHY ARE YOU HERE?

Ernest Lee has wrote a number of books people don’t read, but he has never told folks they could have one of his works of genius if they promised him they would REVIEW the book. But that is a common tactic. Most folks take the free book, toss it aside and never read it. Dillman probably wishes Ernest Lee would have refused to take the ‘free’ book after this review:

Dillman is a retired Army Major who lives in OKC and teaches English at Mid-America Christian University.  He handed out this book at a recent Oklahoma Baptist Men’s Retreat at Falls Creek.  Those who accepted the book had to promise to review the book.  Not sure Dillman will get a lot of reviews because most people will toss the book aside and not read it.  Yall know Ernest Lee ain’t that guy. Here is Ernest Lee’s take:

~Discipled Warriors Handbook (DWH) has 26 lessons and a conclusion statement. DWH covers apologetics, theology, and a number of practical topics.  Dillman says his book answers the question all men have- “Why am I here?’

Not all men have that question, but Dillman’s answer is to teach and train men to be discipled warriors.

Most of Dillman’s examples and illustrations come from his experiences in the military- a place where discipline, rigor, and control change behavior.  But behavior modification is not the goal for the believer.  Paul said Christians should renew their mind to prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).  There is nothing wrong with being a better apologist, a better theologian, husband, steward, or communicator, but those things don’t conform a believer to the image of Christ. Dillman’s work is too work based for Ernest Lee’s taste.

The real issue is that DWH covers far too many topics and doesn’t do a good job on any of them.  It will make a serious Bible student ask- “Why am I here?- reading this book”
